Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan (1929-2004) is for awakening our consciousness and creativity. It is a powerful practice, allowing one to develop non only flexibility but also strength and endurance. The mind becomes quieter, the capacity to remain as the neutral witness increases. As we learn to listen to the present space, we feel more open and free, united and in peace with what is. The urge to express oneself and to create will also emerge in time.

Generally, a kundalini yoga session includes the following:

– Warm-ups: breathing exercises and bodily movements to prepare oneself to the kriya of the day.

– Kriya : pre-determined set of exercises with specific effects on the body and the mind. There are hundreds of kriyas, that is why each kundalini yoga session is different.

– deep relaxation : for integrating all the benefits of the practice.

– Meditation : it can be silent, or with movements and mantra chanting.

Each Kundalini Yoga session is accessible to practitioners of any levels. You practice according to your actual capacity. As each session is unique in its content, you may even find that some exercises are easier one day then more difficult another day. When you acquire more experience in the practice, you will find it easier to remain calm and neutral, even during more challenging exercises.
